It is actually really good idea to use your notes online. So you can access them from anywhere. It is bad that it has some limitations.

Evernote, and certainly not the free version, is not meant as a back up service. It's primary function is to capture and organize notes and reminders. For capturing and processing notes 40Mbs a month should be sufficient for most people. The only time ran out of space was when I did a large GTD purge of my home office. Simple solutions would be to either upgrade to Evernote Premium or use a free document storage solution with higher capacity like Google documents or Picasa

I recently started using Evernote and its “free” storage space is severely limited. I have over 4000 pics on my iphone and have used only half the iphone capacity. I uploaded 166 pics from the iphone to Evernote, used 99% of Evernote upload capacity and recieved a warning notice that Evernote utilization would be restricted until the next cycle. From a practical standpoint Evernotes data restriction allows only 2% utilization of my iphones capacity per month. With this strict data limitation, it is more functional to use my iphone, ipad, and laptops and “Forget Evernote”.
